Resort working at: Cardrona/Treble Cone
Matt got hooked on skiing as a wee nipper thanks to his persistent parents. His first days on the boards were at Round Hill (Tekapo Ski Area). Growing up in the Canterbury area meant he was never too far from one of the South Island’s many ski areas. Subsequently, spending school holidays skiing at Coronet Peak ,Treble Cone and Cardrona.
With this passion for the snow it was inevitable that he would seek a job in snowsports. What started as a bit of a break from Uni has turned into a twenty-plus year career. This time has been spent instructing and training instructors at Cardrona Alpine Resort and the Rookie Academy at Treble cone, along with many seasons instructing in the USA.
Matt has been an Examiner with the NZSIA since 1996, was selected for the Demo Team for Interski Korea 2007 and again in St Anton 2011. Nowadays Matt works as an Instructor and Trainer for Cardrona Snowsports School.
Matt enjoys equipment supplied by HEAD and Bolle.
When you cant find him tearing up the vertical at TC he’s probably tearing up the local single track on his mountain bike.
