Works at: Nomadice, HME Japan & NZSki
My journey began in the 90’s when snowboarding was exploding in popularity. Leaving school, there was only one place I wanted to be: the Alps. Originally from Oxford, UK, I’ve spent 41 seasons developing my skills across mountains, schools, and continents. After a couple of seasons in the Alps working in kitchens, I moved to Mt Hutt, NZ, which marked a significant turning point in my career. That first year as a rookie snowboard instructor shaped the next two decades of my life.
Since then, I have been part of SBINZ, gaining my Trainer’s certification in 2007. I’ve used these qualifications to teach, train, and manage educational teams around the world. I’ve been fortunate to see all aspects of this industry and train with the best. Alongside instructing and training, I studied for a fine art degree at Edinburgh University and balance an art practice around my travels. Currently, I’m alternating seasons between New Zealand and Japan, marketing specialist instructor training, splitboarding workshops, and pow surf camps through my platform Nomadice.
The snowboard scene initially caught my attention for its music, fashion, community, and escape from daily life. This passion has translated into a deep commitment to helping others find their way on a board. Whether it’s guiding someone through their first turns or helping a trainee pass their certification, the joy of sharing this passion never gets old.
